Proverbs from the Batooro Tribe of Uganda by Joy Kabalisa
"Akutwala bwizire akusiima bwakire" meaning, he who helps you at night, you always appreciate in the morning.
"Akagambo komukuru guba mukaro" meaning the elders word is wisdom.
"Ekitemba haiguru otegera hansi" meaning whatever goes up you wait from down.
"Amaino madoma gasekera akunobere" the teeth are stupid they smile for your eneny.

My Life in Africa (by Joy Kabalisa)
My life in Africa has been a turn over in everything; I never knew that I would be what I am today. I thank Life in Africa and the bracelet project because now I can manage to pay my rent of the room I stay and the front room, which I use for my business.
Before I came to Life in Africa, my landlord was always on my neck because of the rent, which I could hardly pay because my only source of income was from the business and yet sometimes I could spend even one full week without selling any cloth.
Now I am my landlord’s favorite because I pay rent in time. Thanks to Life in Africa and it’s proprietors.
Apart from the money side of it, I have made many friends and I am happy living in a community where people care for others. My neighbors wonder how my life just changed instantly and the joy I live in because of Life in Africa.
Life in Africa is like my home now.
